a boy from cojimar
rené began to play the guitar when he was ten years old. he would practice while sitting in the cool shade of the pavillion overlooking the harbour of the small fishing village of cojimar, cuba … he would strum away near the stone bust that paid tribute to the legendary fisherman himself, ernest hemingway … just about ninety miles away from my island home of key west. … and somehow all of these years later, we meet along the camino de santiago … and it turns out we have a cuban fisherman friend in common. curious road. small world, indeed.
