a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the ground

Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened.
Don’t open the door to the study and begin reading.
Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.

today i am thinking about … my family, friends, loves old and new, young girl in leon hospital who reached for my hand as i hobbled by, the peaceable kingdom and its beasts – especially una (now a three-legged dog), flowers, stones, old wooden fence posts with painted arrows not entirely faded, that long and strange beautiful road … all that helped me to find my way. today i send … flying through this curious universe … blessings and deep gratitude to each and every one of you. may all beings know peace.
